1天主祝福諾厄和他的兒子們說：「你們要滋生繁殖，充滿大地。 1And God blessed Noe and his sons. And he said to them: Increase and multiply, and fill the earth.
2地上的各種野獸，天空的各種飛鳥，地上的各種爬蟲和水中的各種游魚，都要對你們表示驚恐畏懼：這一切都已交在你們手中。 2And let the fear and dread of you be upon all the beasts of the earth, and upon all the fowls of the air, and all that move upon the earth: all the fishes of the sea are delivered into your hand.
3凡有生命的動物，都可作你們的食物；我將這一切賜給你們，有如以前賜給你們蔬菜一樣； 3And every thing that moveth and liveth shall be meat for you: even as the green herbs have I delivered them all to you:
4凡有生命，帶血的肉，你們不可吃； 4Saving that flesh with blood you shall not eat.
5並且，我要追討害你們生命的血債：向一切野獸追討，向人，向為弟兄的人，追討人命。 5For I will require the blood of your lives at the hand of every beast, and at the hand of man, at the hand of every man, and of his brother, will I require the life of man.
6凡流人血的，他的血也要為人所流，因為人是照天主的肖像造的。 6Whosoever shall shed man's blood, his blood shall be shed: for man was made to the image of God.
7你們要生育繁殖，在地上滋生繁衍。」 7But increase you and multiply, and go upon the earth, and fill it.
8天主對諾厄和他的兒子們說： 8Thus also said God to Noe, and to his sons with him,
9「看，我現在與你們和你們未來的後裔立約， 9Behold I will establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you:
10並與同你們在一起的一切生物：飛鳥、牲畜和一切地上野獸，即凡由方舟出來的一切地上生物立約。 10And with every living soul that is with you, as well in all birds as in cattle and beasts of the earth, that are come forth out of the ark, and in all the beasts of the earth.
11我與你們立約：凡有血肉的，以後決不再受洪水湮滅，再沒有洪水來毀滅大地。」 11I will establish my covenant with you, and all flesh shall be no more destroyed with the waters of a flood, neither shall there be from henceforth a flood to waste the earth.
12天主說：「這是我在我與你們以及同你們在一起的一切生物之間，立約的永遠標記： 12And God said: This is the sign of the covenant which I give between me and you, and to every living soul that is with you, for perpetual generations.
13我把虹霓放在雲間，作我與大地之間立約的標記。 13I will set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be the sign of a covenant between me, and between the earth.
14幾時我興雲遮蓋大地，雲中要出現虹霓， 14And when I shall cover the sky with clouds, my bow shall appear in the clouds:
15那時我便想起我與你們以及各種屬血肉的生物之間所立的盟約：這樣水就不會再成為洪水，毀滅一切血肉的生物。 15And I will remember my covenant with you, and with every living soul that beareth flesh: and there shall no more be waters of a flood to destroy all flesh.
16幾時虹霓在雲間出現，我一看見，就想起在天主與地上各種屬血肉的生物之間所立的永遠盟約。」 16And the bow shall be in the clouds, and I shall see it, and shall remember the everlasting covenant, that was made between God and every living soul of all flesh which is upon the earth.
17天主對諾厄說：「這就是我在我與地上一切有血肉的生物之間，所立的盟約的標記。」 17And God said to Noe: This shall be the sign of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh upon the earth.
18諾厄的兒子由方舟出來的，有閃、含、和耶斐特。含是客納罕的父親。 18And the sons of Noe who came out of the ark, were Sem, Cham, and Japheth: and Cham is the father of Chanaan.
19這三人是諾厄的兒子；人類就由這三人分布天下。 19These three are the sons of Noe: and from these was all mankind spread over the whole earth.
20諾厄原是農夫，遂開始種植葡萄園。 20And Noe, a husbandman, began to till the ground, and planted a vineyard.
21一天他喝酒喝醉了，就在自己的帳幕內脫去了衣服。 21And drinking of the wine was made drunk, and was uncovered in his tent.
22客納罕的父親含看見了父親赤身露體，遂去告訴外面的兩個兄弟。 22Which when Cham the father of Chanaan had seen, to wit, that his father's nakedness was uncovered, he told it to his two brethren without.
23閃和耶斐特二人於是拿了件外衣，搭在肩上，倒退著走進去，蓋上父親的裸體。他們的臉背著，沒有看見父親的裸體。 23But Sem and Japheth put a cloak upon their shoulders, and going backward, covered the nakedness of their father: and their faces were turned away, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
24諾厄醒了後，知道了小兒對他作的事， 24And Noe awaking from the wine, when he had learned what his younger son had done to him,
25就說：「客納罕是可咒罵的，給兄弟當最下賤的奴隸。」 25He said: Cursed be Chanaan, a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26又說：「上主，閃的天主，應受讚美，客納罕應作他的奴隸。 26And he said: Blessed be the Lord God of Sem, be Chanaan his servant.
27願天主擴展耶斐特，使他住在閃的帳幕內；客納罕應作他的奴隸。」 27May God enlarge Japheth, and may he dwell in the tents of Sem, and Chanaan be his servant.
28洪水以後，諾厄又活了三百五十年。 28And Noe lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years:
29諾厄共活了九百五十歲死了。 29And all his days were in the whole nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.

9:1-7
天主祝福他们传生人类的话，像祝福原祖一样(1:28-30)。起初天主似乎禁止人吃肉，只准吃蔬菜果品(1:29)，现今都准许了，但不准吃带血的肉。按古人的思想，血是生命之所在，是生活的动力。这生命直接来自天主（申12:16-23; 15:23；肋3:17; 7:26; 17:10-14；宗15:29），为此禁止吃血。5,6两节为日後报复法的根据（户35:19；出21:23-25；申19:18-21）。
9:8-17
此段所说的盟约原是天主无条件赐恩的许诺；天主以此诺言保证自然界从今以後不再受洪水之害。虹霓的自然现象在洪水前虽已有，但从今以後当作天主诺言的保证。
9:24-27
诺厄诅咒了客纳罕而未诅咒含，一、因天主早祝福了含（1节）；二、因客纳罕的後裔日後放荡无耻。闪特受祝福，因他是亚巴郎的祖宗，因亚巴郎的後裔（基督），万民将获得祝福。闪受的祝福也及於耶斐特，到新约时代也及於含和普世万民（宗2:5,9-11；路3:6）。
